The counter services against illegal baking and the illegal sale of food products ordered by the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Naples continue. In Caivano, the soldiers of the local branch, together with those of the NAS of Naples, stopped the driver of a van inside which were packed large baskets of bread without traceability information.
The Carabinieri then identified the premises where the bread had been prepared and put on sale: among dust and dirt, baked goods were displayed without any protection, packaging or indications on the production chain.
The business owner was fined approximately 1500 euros. 120 kilos of food were seized.
Instead, 31 kilos of baked goods were seized by the Carabinieri of the Afragola station in a local bakery.
The owner of the business, in addition to providing “black” work to two people, displayed food without any indication of traceability.
He too was given a fine of 1500 euros.
In Giugliano in Campania, the Carabinieri of the Qualiano station – together with those of the NAS of Naples – reported a 67-year-old local man already known to the police because he was caught running an illegal bakery in his home.
He had installed two wood-fired ovens and equipped the business with an industrial mixer.
The military found that the emissions of combustion fumes into the atmosphere were out of control and the waste water was discharged into the municipal sewer.
The 67-year-old's business and materials were seized and a fine of 6 euros was applied.
2 people reported by the Carabinieri of the Bagnoli Company in the Neapolitan neighborhoods of Pianura and Rione Traiano. The first, a 62-year-old with no criminal record from Soccavo, had 10,4 kilos of bread seized: he was selling them on Viale Traiano at an improvised stall. Same scenario in Via Montagna Spaccata. A 59-year-old with no criminal record from Pianura ended up in trouble, caught selling bread on the street without any traceability information and produced in illegal ovens. 14,2 kilos seized. Again in Via Montagna Spaccata in Pianura, the military reported a 53-year-old already known to the police. He was selling cooked artichokes without any authorization: 250 pieces seized.
Tight controls also in the neighborhoods of the eastern outskirts of the city.
In San Giovanni a Teduccio, the Carabinieri of the Poggioreale Company seized 10 kilos of bread, sold by a 44-year-old local man on board his car.
The woman who set up a small stall to sell baked goods in Via Stadera is 45 years old. The military seized 22 kilos of bread from her.
In Ponticelli, a 42-year-old was reported for unauthorized sale of food. In front of his home, on the street, the man cooked and resold preserved artichokes in defiance of the provisions imposed by the law. Almost 7 kilos of vegetables were seized.
More than 30 kilos of artichokes were seized in Barra in Viale della Villa Romana. An entire family had organized a kiosk complete with a grill for cooking and a floor for display and sale.
All the products – exposed to atmospheric agents – were in a very poor state of conservation and potentially harmful to health.
The checks will continue in the next few days.
