The military personnel of the Sicignano degli Alburni Forestry Carabinieri Station during the territorial control service in the municipality of Altavilla Silentina at the locality “Genzano” in a rural area, they discovered a large area where livestock waste is deposited and abandoned.
The inspection conducted immediately after the events allowed us to determine that it is an artificial lake of significant size, 500 square meters, with an average depth of 1,5 meters, full of livestock waste that flows in multiple directions and affects an area of approximately 1000 square meters.
The investigations promptly started by the military allowed them to identify the buffalo and cattle livestock farm, a few kilometers away from the spill sites, from which the waste was transported and dumped into the lagoon. The inspection and checks conducted in the stable allowed them to ascertain the illegal management of the company waste (livestock waste) as well as the disposal of the water from the milking parlor through a pipeline system that flows directly into a drainage ditch located along the neighboring municipal road.
Due to the circumstances ascertained, prohibited and sanctioned by the Consolidated Environmental Law, the military have seized the entire breeding structure consisting of 115 heads, 4 paddocks, the milking room as well as the area of approximately 1.000 mXNUMX used for illegal disposal and reported the person responsible to the AG..
