On Saturday, January 4th, at 9:00 PM, music takes center stage at the Nuovo Teatro Sanità with Spaccanapoli – Fragments of Theater and Music of Neapolitan Song by and featuring Carlo Vannini (guitar and vocals), accompanied by Emmanuele Palmiero (percussion). The two artists begin with folk music, exploring the musical universe of 19th-century Naples and authors such as Dalla, De André, and Modugno, who, despite not being from Naples, attempted to write in the Neapolitan language, narrating the city in their own unique way. The performance will be enhanced by the special appearance of Lalla Esposito, who will offer the audience a tribute to the poetic universe of Raffele Viviani. Spaccanapoli aims to trace an original path in notes, to rediscover the tradition of Neapolitan song. Well-known songs such as Te voglio bene assaje, 'A rumba de'gli scugnizzi, Era de maggio become the pretext to improvise, experiment and blend various sounds. The nature of the performance, young and dynamic, is traced on two lines: the more theatrical one that winds through poetry, and the more musical one that gives energy and suggestions. The story in music is interspersed with interactions with the spectators, who are involved in a journey, in time, through emotions. Spaccanapoli wants to leave in the eyes of the audience images and visions, "fragments", precisely, "of theater and music" that have the objective of educating the heart of those who listen to the dream.
"Spaccanapoli is a concert-show, but we prefer to call it a true celebration," Vannini and Palmiero remind us. "This is the atmosphere we try to create on stage between ourselves, and between ourselves and the audience. Having broken down the distance that the stage usually creates, we are interested in touching people's souls and leading them on an imaginative journey, through the rhythms, emotions, and words of the authors we bring to the stage. Music is the most suitable medium because it can make us all equal and unfiltered, in the intertwining of sounds and voices that weave the plot of this evocative interplay of theater and music that is Spaccanapoli."
