“Tonight we sleep at the purifier”. With this slogan residents, local associations and political movements have begun a protest this evening in Licola against the stench of the Cuma purifier. The protest was triggered by the lack of response from the Campania Region and the Municipality of Pozzuoli on the quality of the air and the state of the modernization works of the purifier facilities. Already in the months of October and November last year, residents occupied the entrance of the Licola Borgo facility for over twenty days to urge the intervention of the institutions. A tent has been set up near the main entrance of the facility and a group of demonstrators will carry out a protest indefinitely. “It is a sign of disapproval – says Raffaele Postiglione, municipal councilor of M5s, one of the promoters of the demonstration -. For the management of the facility it is a sign of closeness to the population that suffers from the nauseating smells coming from the tanks”.
