A banner from the ultras of Puteolana, a soccer team from Pozzuoli that plays in the Campania Eccellenza league, Group A, was unveiled yesterday evening near the Toiano neighborhood. The slogan reads: "Beyond the restrictions, standing by our colors... In Cardito with belts and sticks." This refers to the match against Afragolese, a team from Afragola that is challenging Puteolana for the top spot in the league. The match will be played on Sunday, January 12th, at the Cardito stadium, where Afragolese is playing its home games due to the unavailability of their own stadium. Away fans are prohibited from attending the match, and with this banner, they announce their intention to be present anyway and promise clashes with the Afragolese fans. Pozzuoli's mayor, Vincenzo Figliolia, intervened in the case: "Sport should be a time for socializing and growing," he explained, "not for inciting violence. Law enforcement is already working to track down the perpetrators of the despicable banner that appeared in Toiano. I hope the club is also doing everything it can to isolate these despicable individuals," he concluded.
