During the New Year's celebrations, Torre del Greco was transformed into a real battlefield.
As can be seen from a video shot by a citizen, the streets of the municipality were invaded by piles of rubbish and fires caused by the explosion of firecrackers while deafening neomelodic music provided the soundtrack to a degrading and horrifying scenario.
"This is unacceptable, the celebrations must be carried out in compliance with the rules, with others and with the territory. After speaking with the Mayor of Torre del Geco, Giovanni Palomba, they are proceeding with the identification and reporting of the protagonists of the serious episode that occurred in the Vesuvian municipality on New Year's Eve. The one in Torre del Greco, similar to many others that occurred that night, is a horrifying spectacle where ignorance, degradation, vandalism and illegality, mixed with garbage, fires and illegal and dangerous firecrackers have given life to the worst of the worst of our territories. It seemed like a scene from the film 'The Purge', in which, in a dystopian future, the population has one night a year to give vent to the most barbaric animal instincts. Anyone who has reduced our streets to battlefields will be reported." - this is how the laughing Regional Councilor Del Sole Francesco Emilio Borrelli commented on the event.
