The official social media page is equally divided between official communications and tributes to the Duce. But not even the privacy restrictions implemented after someone saved and shared the incriminating posts have shielded Cesinali's deputy mayor, Pasquale De Vito, from controversy and censorship. Since 2016, the 46-year-old administrator of a center-left civic council in Irpinia has missed no opportunity to dedicate a post to Benito Mussolini. Between "honors to the Duce" and a touch of nostalgia for the conquests of fascism, De Vito also includes official communications for citizens. This is the focus of the association 'I giovani della Valle del Sabato' and the Sardines of Avellino, which are demanding the deputy mayor's resignation or at least "establish a single official channel so he can keep citizens informed without having to slalom between an effigy and a bust of the dictator." A statement from the association also called on the municipal administration and the mayor of Cesinali to "distance themselves ideologically." The social media posts of Deputy Mayor De Vito, an employee of a metalworking company, also attracted the attention of the national secretary of the Italian Socialist Party (PSI), Enzo Maraio, who responded to the Irpinia municipal administrator with a post. "He is living his life 80 years too late," he wrote. "Whoever governs a community is the first bastion of democratic institutions. I will ask our representatives in Parliament to raise a question with the Minister of the Interior regarding his totally unconstitutional behavior."
