On an emergency room stretcher for over two hours, in the corridor of the pediatrics ward, then transferred from one ward to another due to a shortage of beds. This is the treatment a child received at the Umberto I Hospital in Nocera Inferiore, as reported by Raimondo Polino, head of the hospital's USB (Basic Union).
The complaint was filed with the health director of the Salerno Local Health Authority and the management of the Umberto I hospital, pointing fingers at the child's lack of privacy, "without even a sheet, not even a disposable one, for the entire journey from the emergency room to the pediatrics ward." The union cites "the alleged abuse committed by the emergency room manager by ordering his admission to a ward not hers and against the advice of the pediatrician who examined the child." The head of pediatrics, Ignazio Franzese, also intervened in the case, contacting health director Maurizio D'Ambrosio regarding the questionable admission procedures. However, an increase in staffing is necessary to ensure adequate consultations in the emergency room, as well as a dedicated space for children.
