Santa Maria del Pozzo, the CEO: 'Unfounded accusations against our facility, ready to prove it'

The CEO of the Casa di Cura “Santa Maria del Pozzo” in Somma Vesuviana, lawyer Sergio Terracciano, intervenes on the recent news events involving the facility. Below is the letter to the newspapers:

“Casa di Cura Santa Maria del Pozzo completely rejects the false insinuations and incorrect information regarding the health conditions of our patients, then admitted to the Boscotrecase Covid center. It should be noted that the facility is among the very few in the Campania Region to be equipped with medical, vulnological and surgical specialties dedicated exclusively to the treatment of bedsores, with which unfortunately many of our patients arrive from previous hospital stays, often resuscitation and intensive care, and therefore in conditions of enormous clinical severity.

The evidence relating to the serious clinical conditions, including serious pressure sores already present before admission to the facility, are officially and legally present in the documents in our possession and are available to anyone, including journalists and communication operators, who wishes to consult them, obviously in full compliance with the rules on privacy. Furthermore, the very serious slanders relating to the work of our health workers, relating to an alleged "abandonment and poor hygiene of patients" are completely unfounded, as the clinic has 420 employees, of which approximately 90% are exclusively dedicated to the daily and qualified assistance of our patients.

We are very proud of these health workers of ours: they are very competent professionals, thanks also to the continuous training courses they periodically carry out, but above all they are endowed with great humanity, which they always put into their way of working. Finally, we add that the clinic is assiduously monitored in its work by the competent officials of our ASL. We therefore await all the competent authorities, health and judicial, to carry out the investigations they deem most appropriate, reserving, in the meantime, the right to protect our image of great seriousness and great professionalism, officially recognized by the health institutions of the entire region. This will be done in every competent venue and with every possible action, including compensation for damages”.
