Salerno. In a few days it will have to leave the hangar occupied since 2003 at the “Costa d'Amalfi” airport and in which there are the planes of Valar, the company that operates in the environmental aeromonitoring sector. And which represents the only airline company in the national and international field to have been certified by EASA for the installation and use on board aircraft, of the new scientific/technological instrumentation created by the CNR, necessary for carrying out environmental aeromonitoring missions. A company that, since 2017, is the only one in Southern Italy to be able to manage flight training courses.
A history of almost twenty years, therefore, that risks being erased with the classic stroke of the pen and without any other alternative. Because Gesac, the company that, after the merger by incorporation, manages the Salerno airport, has communicated that it no longer wants to renew the three-year concession that expires in the middle of this month. "We had asked for an extension - explains the administrator Domenico De Filippo - or to be moved to another area, also taking into account that it is not known when the work to expand the runway will begin, as a legal battle is underway and to this day there is still no certain date. But it was all in vain, because it was not even possible, as I requested, to meet the company managers to discuss the situation and find a solution".
