With the company Relaunch Decree Recently approved, the Government has made official new incentives for the purchase of electric cars and bicycles, traditional bicycles and scooters. Private and urban mobility therefore receives a significant injection of capital.
The Government's objective is twofold. On the one hand, there is the need to stimulate the economy in a key sector for the future, namely I share green, which includes the use of fuel-free transport. On the other hand, it is a measure that can help Italy to counteract a possible new wave of coronavirus infections.
In fact, with the resumption of activities after the lockdown, public transport will once again carry millions of citizens, creating situations in which the virus could spread more easily.
It is no coincidence that the response from citizens has already been very good and purchases of electric bikes and other green means have increased significantly during 2020. A demand also intercepted by the network, thanks to the presence of specialized e-commerce in the sale of these vehicles, as well as other sporting goods.
How to buy an electric bike with government incentives
The purchase boom that characterized the first three months of 2020 has already reduced the fund previously allocated for electric cars. With the DL Relaunch, the Government has added a further 100 million euros, extending the incentives to the purchase of all electric means of transport and micromobility.
Starting from April 2020, all citizens have the opportunity to buy an e-bike with a state bonus up to € 500,00. The discount will however be tied to the scrapping of a fossil fuel-powered car or motorbike, of a class lower than Euro 3.
Among the funds put in place by the Budget Law 2020 and from Relaunch Decree, the Government has allocated a total of 355 million Euros for the purchase of a electric bicycle or other green means of transport. The incentive can be requested for each new purchase until 2024 and as long as there is money available in the fund. In any case, it is good to remember that old vehicles will have to be scrapped by the 31 December 2021.
It is important to specify that the voucher issued must be used within three years. The incentive, with pre-established amounts, can also be used to purchase a public transport pass or to use services such as car sharing (or scooter sharing).
How to apply for the 2020 Mobility Bonus
Il Mobility Bonus provides for some limitations. First of all, from the group of beneficiaries minors are excluded, but also i residents of small towns of provinces that do not exceed 50 thousand inhabitants.
If for the youngest the exclusion is obvious and understandable, for what concerns the smaller municipalities we must refer to the intentions of the Government. In fact, the incentive was created with the administrative and political aim of improving the efficiency of local public transport and limiting traffic in large cities. In today's situation, there is an added need to encourage people not to create crowds, as could happen on city buses, metros and trams.
As regards the specific purchase of the electric bikes, the bonus amount drops to the maximum limit of 500 euros, from the 1500 euros foreseen for the purchase of electric cars. In detail, the incentive will affect 60% of the expense. Each individual citizen is allowed to use the bonus for the purchase of only one micromobility vehicle.
It will be possible to request the Voucher directly on the website Ministry of the Environment, as soon as the corresponding section is activated. A specific mobile application will also be released soon.
The requesting citizen must be in possession of SPID credentials (Public Digital Identity System) to be able to log in from both PCs and tablets or smartphones. Starting this year, therefore, the use of Electric bicycles it will be even more convenient.
