AIt's now official: the 2020 GIRO d'Italia will be held from October 3 to 25. The UCI, the International Cycling Federation, has today published the dates for a long list of races that were pending until now, and confirmed the proposal of the organizers of the Corsa Rosa. In addition, the great classics of Italian cycling will be held during the summer: Strade Bianche on August 8, Milan-Sanremo on August 7, Tirreno-Adriatico on September 14-31. The Lombardia will be held a few days after the GIRO, on October 29. No surprises for the Tour de France, already scheduled from August 20 to September 20, despite the ban on mass events decided by the French government until the end of August, so probably with the first days without spectators on the streets. From October 8 to November XNUMX the Vuelta a España.
“The new calendar follows a logic that offers maximum opportunities for different types of cyclists: alternating stage races and one-day races in August, which will allow cyclists to gradually readjust to the rhythm of competition after three months of limited activity for some; the Tour de France, UCI Road World Championships, GIRO d'Italia, Ardennes and Flanders events; and to close the season, the Vuelta”.
