Coronavirus, over 20 thousand Campanians living in other regions contacted as part of “Adotta un Campano al Nord” to convince them not to return to the South. Verdi: “We must not stop, we need a sense of responsibility to avoid a new wave of infections”. ASL checks at toll booths and stations.
"About 20 thousand citizens of Campania living in other regions, especially in the North, have been contacted via WhatsApp, cell phone and email by friends and relatives to convince them not to come down, as part of the initiative "Adotta un Campano al Nord" launched by the Greens and La Radiazza. The goal is to convince our fellow citizens to return only in case of extraordinary necessity and, if they really have to, to voluntarily quarantine themselves. Many citizens' committees are being formed that appeal to the sense of responsibility of friends and relatives outside the region to not let them come back. From Monday, trains from the North will be stormed, and the risk of a new wave of infections is very high.
Those who get off must absolutely be responsible and remain in isolation, to protect their loved ones and the entire community. We are concerned about those people who do not want to get off the train or bus, who return by private means to evade controls. Fortunately, since May 1st, the ASL staff has organized, with the police, pickets at the most important stations and motorway toll booths to monitor the situation, but we know that it will be impossible to control everyone. Respect for the rules and humanity is absolutely necessary on the part of those who decide to get off, or a new wave of infections could destroy all the efforts made to date". This was stated by Francesco Emilio Borrelli, regional councilor of the Greens and Gianni Simioli, radio speaker of La Radiazza, promoters of the awareness campaign
