After four days of progressive decline, a sudden surge in the number of people who died in Italy due to complications from coronavirus infection: today there are +474 over yesterday, bringing the total to 28.710. And the decrease recorded in the number of patients hospitalized in intensive care units is also slowing: today there are 1.539 compared to 1.578 yesterday, with a decrease of 39 (compared to -116 in the previous 24 hours).
In Italy, the total number of infected people, i.e. those currently positive for coronavirus, victims and recovered, is 209.328, with an increase of 1.900 compared to yesterday. In detail - according to data released by the Civil Protection -, the currently positive cases are 36.667 in Lombardy, 15.719 in Piedmont, 9.323 in Emilia-Romagna, 7.431 in Veneto, 5.365 in Tuscany, 3.598 in Liguria, 4.452 in Lazio, 3.205 in Marche, 2.721 in Campania, 1.282 in the autonomous province of Trento, 2.954 in Puglia, 2.186 in Sicily, 1.109 in Friuli Venezia Giulia, 1.879 in Abruzzo, 703 in the autonomous province of Bolzano, 196 in Umbria, 730 in Sardinia, 98 in Valle d'Aosta, 713 in Calabria, 191 in Basilicata and 182 in Molise. The increase in total coronavirus cases in Italy (the data that includes positives, victims and recovered) in the last 24 hours is concentrated - according to Civil Protection data - in Lombardy (+533), Piedmont (+495) and Emilia-Romagna (+206). There are regions where cases are increasing very little such as Umbria (+1), Molise (+1) and Sardinia (+2). No cases were recorded in Calabria. In Lazio, the total new cases in 24 hours are 84.
