There are now 90 candidate anti-Covid vaccines under study around the world and six of these have begun human trials: a very important milestone, which is not a point of arrival because clinical trials must respect precise times and rules, which will not allow us to arrive at the vaccine before 2021.
THowever, many steps forward are being made and in this competition Italy is in an excellent position, with two vaccine candidates developed in our country and production infrastructure. The research accelerator is being pushed, for which the European Commission has raised 7,4 billion euros in just a few hours, for vaccines, diagnostics and therapies. Many vaccine candidates have also reached the threshold of clinical trials, but to understand which of them will be able to start first, according to experts, an unprecedented level of coordination will be needed, which has led to the birth of international coalitions.
