One thousand new health workers for Italian prisons. This is the plan implemented by the government, in collaboration with the Civil Protection, to ensure greater health safety in penitentiary institutions.
IThe Minister of Justice, Alfonso Bonafede, the Minister of Regional Affairs, Francesco Boccia, and the head of Civil Protection, Angelo Borrelli, welcomed a delegation of new health workers to Rebibbia this morning. “This response of solidarity is proof that there are many people available even in difficult situations such as prisons,” said the Minister of Justice. “After having adopted measures to combat the coronavirus, we decided to try to make an additional contribution. The first response is with this contribution of yours that will allow us to manage the health situation inside prisons even better, reaching even the most difficult situations.” There are 998 new workers, who will be distributed in the various prisons. “We do not rule out using them again, always on a voluntary basis,” added Boccia. “If we have defeated Covid, we could use this model for other emergencies, otherwise we do not rule out renewing this commitment. With you here, we feel stronger.”
