China's health authority said no new domestic COVID-19 cases were reported in mainland China over the past 24 hours. The only confirmed case was reported in Shanghai from overseas, according to China's National Health Commission.
No deaths were reported. A total of 87 people were discharged from hospitals after recovering on Tuesday, while the number of severe cases decreased to 29. Also on Tuesday, 15 new asymptomatic cases were reported in mainland China. No cases were reclassified as confirmed cases, and 30 of them, including four from overseas, were discharged from medical observation, the commission said. 947 asymptomatic cases, including 94 from overseas, were still under medical observation. As of Tuesday, mainland China had reported a total of 1.676 imported cases. Of these, 1.351 had been discharged from hospitals after recovering, and 325 remained hospitalized with five in serious condition. No deaths were reported from imported cases. The commission said two people from overseas were still suspected of being infected with the virus.
According to the commission, 7.152 close contacts are still under medical observation after 710 people were discharged from medical observation yesterday. The total confirmed cases in mainland China have reached 82.881, including 395 patients still undergoing treatment, 77.853 people discharged after recovery, and 4.633 people who died from the disease. Yesterday, 1.040 confirmed cases, including four deaths, were reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, 45 confirmed cases in Macao, and 438 in Taiwan, including six deaths. A total of 900 patients in Hong Kong, 39 in Macao, and 334 in Taiwan have been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
