“The night between Saturday and Sunday in Naples was characterized by the explosion of fireworks. From Poggioreale to Mergellina, we received dozens of reports from citizens of explosions of firecrackers and fireworks, despite the restrictions to combat the spread of Covid-19. Unfortunately, despite the pandemic, this wild custom of shooting in the middle of the night has returned, annoying residents and creating chaos. We do not know the reasons for the explosions, whether it is simple incivility, celebrations for the arrival of phase two, or the signal, as it often turns out to be, from organized crime of the arrival of a shipment of drugs.
The fact is that from Monday, with the beginning of coexistence with the virus, during the nights of the weekend it will be absolutely necessary to increase controls in the most sensitive areas and avoid people on the streets and the spread of incivility and crime". This was stated by Francesco Emilio Borrelli, regional councilor of the Greens, who has received dozens of reports on the matter from citizens.
