Campania entrepreneur Auletta writes to institutions: "We need your support"
“The entire wedding sector, given the total lack of aid from the State for the restart, is experiencing a real economic massacre without precedent. Many businesses have only deluded themselves and believed the false decrees of an irresponsible Government. To date, many employees and small businesses have not received the miserable 6 euros or even the redundancy fund. Despite this, they have found themselves with certainties to pay: rent, electricity and telephone bills, costs for surveillance, sanitization, staff training, technical failures in the shops, goods to pay for, and protocols to apply. And all without any customers to serve!”.
Thus begins a long 7-page letter that the Campania entrepreneur Luigi Auletta, president of Impero Couture, sent to Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte. In April, Auletta was the protagonist of a gesture defined as heroic: he did not cash the payment titles of his 300 clients for sums around 3 million euros, saving them from bankruptcy. Now he is asking for an intervention from the institutions, acting as a spokesperson for the entire sector.
"To date, there is no project by the Government to safeguard a sector like ours. There hasn't been a word from a prime minister who, with great class, told all of us to sort it out on our own! Today, our supply chain is in dire straits and, if there are no initiatives and aid, many of us will have to fail, due to force majeure. This is a true dictatorship that forces us to destroy our dreams, the same ones we have achieved with our hard work."
“You, President Conte, do you understand what we are feeling seeing our employees without money and without work? They are family units and have children and expenses to pay. Do you realize how serious the situation is for them? Even for us companies, there are goods, checks that are not bankable and shops on the verge of bankruptcy. I ask myself, who after us will be able to pay taxes? Will they be able to give work to all these families?”.
"We are all now projected into 2021, aware that our season is over and at a great loss, without the hope of recovering at least the management costs. Even if you don't have money to give us, at least let us work. This is what we ask of you. I am available to lend a hand to the Government with my experience, to offer my contribution to creating a future life perspective for many activities, instead of seeing them inevitably die".
"I invite you and all the government bodies to support the world of weeding, before it is too late. In the event that my appeal does not receive a response, I will be forced, against my will, to invite the entire sector to unite in the square to demonstrate and thus claim their rights".
