After weeks of lockdown, they raised the shutters of their pastry shop in the Spanish Quarter of Naples and, for the first batch of sweets, they thought of the poor of the area, to whom they sent trays of Vol-au-vents, sweet donuts, a house specialty.
A support the initiative of the Calemma brothers, owners of the pastry shop 'Dolci Momenti', the volunteers of the evangelical association 'Tabita' who during the days of the crisis provided with their volunteers to distribute meals and basic necessities to the needy people of the city. In addition to the donuts, the pastry chefs also offered a large cake on which they drew a rainbow, two smiling people and the phrase 'Everything will be fine' which has become the slogan in the battle against covid-19.
“Not everyone knows,” said Mimmo Pazzi, president of Tabita in front of the counter full of sweets, “that the slogan is from the prophet Jeremiah, chapter 38, verse 20 of the Bible.” “Jeremiah,” he explains, “had been thrown into a cistern and feared for his fate, just like what is happening here and all over the world these days. We fell into a well and now more than ever we fear for our future.” “This is precisely why,” he concludes, “we must support the families who are suffering more than others from the crisis caused by the Coronavirus, and today, thanks to these pastry chef friends, we will bring them a small moment of joy.”
