Castel Volturno – Eight people arrested, one of whom is in prison, pursuant to precautionary measures ordered by the investigating judge of the Livorno Court at the request of the local Prosecutor's Office: this is the result of an operation conducted this morning by the Carabinieri against drug dealing on the island of Elba, in the province of Livorno.
TAmong the suspects is also a lawyer from the Rome court, with an office in Livorno, and his collaborator, originally from Albania.
During the investigations, the Carabinieri reconstructed more than 200 drug dealing episodes on the island and seized over half a kilo of cocaine and many doses of marijuana.
The precautionary measures were carried out by the Carabinieri of Portoferraio assisted by the military of the Arma of Livorno, Pisa, Terrasini, Pinetamare-Castel Volturno, in the Caserta area.
The operation, called 'Algerian dolphin' led the Carabinieri of Portoferraio, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Livorno, to dismantle a dense drug dealing network that supplied the island with drugs.
Among the 8 people arrested this morning, a lawyer from the Rome Bar Association with an office in Livorno, Francesco Mancini, 46 years old, was placed under house arrest, while his collaborator of Albanian origin, Aurel Zhupa, 43 years old, was transferred to prison after his arrest.
Two brothers, Marco and Andrea Coppola, aged 42 and 32, were placed under house arrest, as were Emanuele Maniaci, 27, tracked down in Terrasini, Issam Belemaalem, 37, Mohamed Oueslati, 33 and Benyoucef Bouabdallah, 46, identified in Castel Volturno.
The anti-drug dogs of the Florence dog unit were also used.
