Since the early hours of today, the Finance Police of the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Catania, supported by the Provincial Commands of Rome, Naples, Palermo and the Messina Naval Air Group, on behalf of the Catania District Attorney's Office, have been executing a precautionary measure order against 25 people (21 in prison and 4 under house arrest) investigated, in various capacities, for association aimed at the illicit trafficking of narcotics (cocaine, marijuana, hashish and "crack") aggravated by the aim of facilitating the "Santapaola-Ercolano" mafia clan and by the possession of weapons.
Also being executed is the preventive seizure aimed at confiscation due to disproportion of a business activity and 2 real estate properties. The investigation by the Economic-Financial Police Unit of Catania "has allowed us to repeatedly confirm the operations of multiple organized criminal groups (Catania clans supplied by criminal groups from Campania, Albania, Calabria and Lazio) through the arrest in flagrante of 6 "drug couriers" and the simultaneous seizure of over 4 kg of cocaine, 52 kg of marijuana and approximately 25 kg of hashish", explain the Guardia di Finanza.
This morning, the Catania District Attorney's Office will provide details of the operation with an in-depth press release describing the investigations carried out and the people involved.
