We know the period, it is what it is, full of clouds that barely allow a glimpse of the sun. But life during “Covid19” is going on and even in music new strategies are being studied to organize the present and the near future.
“The Artist Who Wasn't There”, a historic award now in its seventeenth edition, takes into account the many difficulties encountered in recent weeks and extends registration until Friday, May 8.
While waiting to understand what indications will arrive, the final scheduled remains at the end of June. One important thing must be remembered and that is that since always (so it is not a novelty for this year ...), all the finals played inside the CPM have always been behind closed doors, where the audience present was selected, personally invited one by one. This is because the final of The Artist who was not there is an anomalous but certainly suggestive final, given that those present are always professionals who also become the judges of the final live. The Auditorium can accommodate 99 seats and was normally used up to the last available seat. This year, if the "new rules" for reopening activities allow it, a jury with 30 professionals max could be convened, precisely to make the required distancing feasible, just as other measures would be taken for the dressing rooms and the various moments of potential aggregation too close together. If the final cannot be held at the end of June, it could be held in mid-July or even in September. A decision that will be taken, as we were saying, after the communications that will arrive from the Government.
The important thing that we want to underline is that the entire listening and selection process will remain unchanged, as it has always happened through listening in MP3. We therefore remind you that all the registered will be listened to by the editorial staff of the newspaper L'Isola che non c'era who will choose 50 selected (40 for the General section and 10 for the Instrumental one), who in turn will be listened to and evaluated by the entire team of collaborators and correspondents of L'Isola, who will indicate 25 semifinalists (20 for the general + 5 for the Instrumental). At this point the external Jury will come into play which will establish the 10 finalists who will play live + the 2 winners of the instrumental section.
We know the period, it is what it is, full of clouds that barely allow a glimpse of the sun. But nothing and no one like artists know how to look beyond the clouds.
