“As requested by the Smi, we are moving towards strengthening the continuity of care service (formerly medical guard) starting from Capri with 24-hour summer coverage. A recognition by the ASL Napoli 1 center of the importance of the territorial public facilities throughout the area of competence2, this is the statement by the Smi union leaders Esposito and Scalzullo.
In fact, there are thousands of interventions carried out by the continuity of care doctors in all the territorial branches of the Company in recent months and also in the penitentiaries of Naples (Poggioreale, Nisida, Secondogliano) where the CA doctors work and which have pushed the strategic management of the company to plan an improvement of the service.
Most of the doctors on the front line in the territorial health facilities of Naples, in the USCA and in the penitentiaries are historical precarious workers with annual assignments who await professional stabilization from the assignment of the shortages of the years 2018-2019-2020 by the Campania Region.
“We also note – conclude from Smi – the attention of the strategic management of the company to the continuity of care facilities that have recently received a greater supply of personal protective equipment and also a constant sanitization of the environments used for the numerous visits to protect the operators and citizens who crowd the clinics at night, on holidays and the days before holidays – conclude Esposito and Scalzullo”.
