Naples, Villa Floridiana: from tomorrow it will be possible to access from via Cimarosa. The Duca di Martina museum is still closed to the public
Gennaro Capodanno, president of the Comitato Valori collinari, former president of the Vomero District, who since the Villa Floridiana in Vomero was closed, following the storm of December 22nd last year, has launched a series of initiatives to urge its full reopening, including an online petition, involving the President of the Republic, Mattarella, in the matter, after the partial reopening that took place on June 2nd, with access however only from the entrance on via Aniello Falcone, has continued to follow the extremely urgent works to give the thousands of visitors the opportunity to enjoy the ancient Bourbon park, at least in the condition existing before the storm, also reopening the entrance on via Cimarosa, which has remained closed to date.
"With the scorching heat that, according to forecasts, should continue for at least the entire week - underlines Capodanno -, the need to reopen the entrance of via Cimarosa with access to the park from the main avenue has become imperative, especially for the many elderly people and for young children, in the company of their parents, looking for a little coolness as well as for tourists who have started to see each other again in the city. Even for the latter, access to the Villa Floridiana from via Aniello Falcone is particularly inconvenient compared to that from via Cimarosa, located a few steps from the Piazza Vanvitelli station of the hill metro and the funiculars ".
"In these days - Capodanno points out - the workers who are operating inside the park have been working to complete the necessary work also for the reopening of the gates on via Cimarosa, which, according to the latest news received in these hours, could happen as early as tomorrow morning, July 1st, news that would represent, if confirmed, a splendid start to the month of July, on the same day in which the Holy Mass will be celebrated in Naples, in Piazza del Plebiscito, with the recitation of the supplication to the Patron Saint of Naples and Campania, San Gennaro ".
” At the same time, however, according to the same news – Capodanno adds -, the Duca di Martina National Ceramics Museum, located inside the park, will not reopen, unlike other places of culture, such as, remaining in Vomero, Castel Sant'Elmo which reopened to the public since May 18th and the “B. Molajoli” Library. All with consequent repercussions both in terms of image and of an economic nature, also due to the continued suspension of all activities planned inside the museum, in addition to the lost revenue from entrance tickets which constitute an obvious loss for the state coffers. We also hope that the museum can be reopened quickly “.
Capodanno, on this occasion, also on behalf of the over 300 signatories of the petition, assures that he will continue to follow the story so that, in a short time, the park of the Villa Floridiana is returned in full to the citizens, with the realization of the remaining works to be financed with the two million euros of the MIBACT, announced already in March of last year. So much also in relation to the debate opened on a different management of the ancient Bourbon park.
