Maria Mazzotta, one of the most appreciated voices of international world music, returns to sing live. She will be the one to open “7 gradi – Settimana di concerti” on July 7th in Naples as part of the “Napoli Teatro Festival”. The concert will be held at 19,30:XNUMX pm in the Cortile delle carrozze of Palazzo Reale.
Accompanied by Bruno Galeone's accordion, Mazzotta will present "AMOREAMARO", her new and successful album, a finalist at the Targhe Tenco, the most important Italian musical award. A work that is also receiving great recognition abroad. For four consecutive months, in fact, it has been present in the international genre charts - it is currently in ninth place in the World Music Charts Europe (www.wmce.de/index.html) and in nineteenth place in the Transglobal World Music Chart (http://www.transglobalwmc.com/charts/june-2020-chart/).
AMOREAMARO, published by Agualoca Records, an independent Neapolitan label with its gaze turned towards distant latitudes, is an intense and passionate reflection, from a female point of view, on the various faces of love: from the great, desperate and tender one to the sick, possessive and abused one. The album is distributed in Italy by Audioglobe, in the UK by Proper Music, in Germany by Indigo and in France by Inouie.
Mazzotta's album has also been released in vinyl version for a few days, accompanied by the publication of a new live video: that of "Vorrei volare / Ballata della presa di coscienza", the album's opening track, recorded last December during Mazzotta's concert at the Cantieri Teatrali Koreja in Lecce. WHO IS MARIA MAZZOTTA
Maria Mazzotta is one of the most important voices in the Italian folk scene and international world music. In her career she has collaborated with names of the caliber of Bobby McFerrin, Ibrahim Maalouf, Rita Marcotulli, Ballake Sissoko, Piers Faccini, Justin Adams and Juldeh Camara, Mannarino, Hysni (Niko) Zela and Fanfara Tirana, Eva Quartet, Klapa Otok, Bojken Lako, Raiz, Roy Paci, Roberto Ottaviano, Raffaele Casarano, Bijan Chemirani and Mario Arcari.
From 2000 to 2015 he was part of the Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, a band with which he recorded six albums and participated in the most important world music festivals.
During her journey of learning about various vocal techniques she met Sayeeduddin Dagar, one of the most famous Indian Dhrupad singers, and Bobby McFerrin who chose her to duet in the 2008 edition of “Bari in Jazz”.
Looking eastwards he became passionate about Balkan music and at only 21 years old he began a musical research with various musicians of different nationalities (Greeks, Albanians, Macedonians, Croatians, Romanians, Bulgarians and gypsies that he met in his numerous concerts). From here the partnership with the Albanian cellist Redi Hasa was born in a musical-cultural symbiosis from which the duo “Hasa-Mazzotta” emerged.
