The gang of the 'return horses' of Nolano has been dismantled: 4 precautionary measures. This morning, on investigations coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Nola, the Carabinieri of the San Vitaliano Station have executed a precautionary order with which the precautionary measure of custody in prison has been applied against two suspects and, respectively, the measure of house arrest and that of the ban on residence in the Municipality of Nola against two other competitors.
The aforementioned, between November 2019 and March 2020, were responsible, in various capacities, for extortion with the "so-called returning horse method", aggravated thefts and receiving stolen vehicles. The complex investigative activity made it possible to photograph, thanks to the execution of targeted observation and shadowing services, the monitoring of utilities and the acquisition of images from urban video surveillance systems, the modus operandi of the competitors.
And indeed, in record time, they committed thefts of motor vehicles on public roads and in the parking lots of the Vulcano Buono shopping centre in Nola, concealing them through the collaboration of several individuals, and subsequently formulated the request for money (from 250,00 to 2.500,00 Euros) for the return of the vehicle to the victims.
The investigation was, in fact, called Hi Tech Thieves because the thefts were carried out through the illicit use of cloned control units that guaranteed the perfect duplication of the electronic ignition systems of the vehicles, by means of the CD port. “On Board Diagnostic”, in just sixty seconds. Numerous episodes have been confirmed.
Today's operation is a further positive result achieved by the AG and the Carabinieri engaged daily in the repression of predatory crimes in the Nola area.
