Agcom issues a warning to Mediaset for Feltri's comments on Southerners during the episode of 'Fuori dal coro', aired on April 21 on Rete4, which had already been at the center of controversy over Vittorio Feltri's statements on Southerners.
The Council of the Communications Regulatory Authority – reads the note – has ascertained the violation of the regulation to combat hate speech pursuant to resolution 157/19/CONS against the broadcaster RTI in relation to what happened in the episode of 21 April 2020 of the programme 'Fuori dal Coro' which for the occasion hosted the journalist Vittorio Feltri. In particular, the Authority has noted that the host of the programme, Mario Giordano, did not adequately dissociate himself from Feltri's statements regarding the 'southerners' and, taking into account the repetitiveness and seriousness of the set of episodes already contested to the broadcaster for the same programme, has applied article 7 paragraph 3 of the Regulation warning the broadcaster not to repeat the contested conduct”.
Furthermore, "also due to a new complaint for violation of the regulation to combat hate speech sent to the same broadcaster for the conduct of the host in relation to the statements of Iva Zanicchi in the episode of the program Fuori dal Coro of 16 June - the guarantee body further explains - the Authority has reserved an overall analysis of the entire cycle of the broadcast in order to identify the possible systematic nature of violation of the principles set out in articles 3, 4 and 32 of the Tusmar". In the same meeting, the Acgom Council "warned the broadcaster Radio 105 not to repeat in the program 'ZOO105' expressions with highly denigratory content with respect to categories that are the object of stereotypes as they are outside the exception of satire and in violation of the regulation to combat hate speech".
