Pompeii. A clandestine breeding farm for purebred dogs has been discovered: a 42-year-old Pompeian man already known to the police has been seized and reported.
I Carabinieri from the Pompeii Station, together with those from the Sarno Dog Unit, the Castellamare di Stabia Forestry Carabinieri and the personnel from ASL Napoli 3 Sud, discovered a clandestine breeding farm for purebred dogs, located inside the private residence of a 42-year-old man, already known to the police.
The check began in the early morning, when the military carried out a house search of the man. Inside the house and in a shed located in the immediate vicinity, 17 adult dogs and 24 puppies of the “poodle”, “French bulldog”, “lagotto” and “chihuahua” breeds were found, all without microchips and kept in terrible hygienic conditions inside transport cages. More than 400 bags and 74 aluminum boxes containing expired pet food were also found. The man was reported to the Judicial Authority for animal abuse, as well as fined for an amount of 8.000 euros in relation to the numerous administrative violations found. All the animals were removed from the site and entrusted to a suitable structure.
