"The outbreak in Mondragone and the other cases in the Caserta area connected to it are being addressed in the best possible way. But let's remember that the virus is still circulating. The important thing is to identify these outbreaks and isolate them immediately."
Paolo Ascierto, oncologist at the Pascale in Naples, creator of the cure for Covid-19 with the drug Tocilizumab, said this while speaking to journalists after meeting, as promised, the commercial operators of San Gregorio Armeno. Ascierto explains: “The most important news is the numbers, which are going in the direction we hoped for. In Campania there have been few positive cases for several weeks. This is enough to reiterate that our region is a safe place, even for tourism which is currently in difficulty”.
And regarding the second wave, the oncologist explains: “It is not certain that it will happen but given the past it is something that we must consider. I make my own a phrase by Alessandro Manzoni: 'Better to be agitated in doubt than to rest in error'. If this trend is confirmed in Campania with contained numbers of positives to Coronavirus, we will probably be able to face what will happen in the fall in a way that I would not say is more relaxed but in a different way”. And finally an obligatory passage on the treatment with Tocilizumab: “The results already obtained are positive. The drug is able to reduce the mortality rate in one month. We are waiting for the definitive consecration on the Phase 3 study. The data will be available at the end of July”.
