Coronavirus: Mondragone outbreak, total 75 infections. There are 75 cases of coronavirus linked to the outbreak that emerged among members of the Bulgarian community living in Mondragone (Caserta). The result is the result of two screenings carried out by the ASL of Caserta first on approximately 750 residents in the so-called Palazzi Cirio of Mondragone, then on over 3 thousand contacts in the surrounding areas and municipalities.
D43 cases emerged from the first screening, 32 infections were discovered from the second screening. Of the 75 total cases, 66 are residents of Mondragone (the 43 from the first screening and 23 from the second), while the others are residents of the municipality of Falciano del Massico (4), Sessa Aurunca (3), Carinola (1) and Recale (1). The second screening showed that 27 positive cases are employees of a farm based in Falciano del Massico, whose activity was promptly suspended by Mayor Erasmo Fava with an ordinance signed yesterday. The mayor of Mondragone also issued an ordinance with which he ordered the suspension of the activity of a company following the positivity found in an employee.
Yesterday, an order from the President of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca ordered the extension of the red zone relating to the area of the Cirio Palaces of Mondragone until July 7. In a week, at the end of the quarantine, the swabs will be repeated on residents in order to possibly revoke the red zone. In the province of Caserta, there are 79 people currently positive: 75 cases linked to the Mondragone outbreak, the other 4 in the municipalities of Casapulla, Dragoni, Lusciano and Rocca d'Evandro not attributable to the outbreak.
