Esposito (PD): “Naples open-air landfill: yet another failure of the de Magistris Administration”. The state of Naples is absolutely unacceptable, bordering on decorum and the most basic hygiene standards. The city is invaded by cockroaches and insects, the streets and sidewalks are dirty and smelly, the separate waste collection points are overflowing with uncollected waste, and there are open-air landfills in every neighborhood.
Dfter the sanitization campaign of public areas in the midst of the Covid-19 emergency, strongly requested by the PD, nothing more has been done and the sanitization and cleaning service, from the first point on the agenda, has not arrived to date.
It is a disturbing and shameful scenario, which denotes the failed management of the de Magistris Administration that has thrown the Municipality into a deep socio-economic and now also health crisis.
Not even the serious epidemiological emergency still underway has served as a lesson. We have witnessed months of proclamations from the Orange Council on the need to lay the foundations for a socio-economic recovery and today we offer citizens and tourists who, after months of lockdown, have chosen to visit Naples, an indecent welcome.
I make a heartfelt appeal to this Administration now in collapse: we must act immediately throughout the city with an adequate waste collection, cleaning, cockroach control and disinfestation intervention and avoid further epidemics and risks to public health.
A final dutiful act of gratitude for our City, always ready to respond responsibly to requests for sacrifices and which today also suffers the harmful effects of the pandemic.
