Grumo Nevano, the market area a 'big garbage dump'. The desperation of the residents. Borrelli: "Cleaning and disinfestation must be carried out regularly. The Local Police must check and sanction those who abandon waste in the street."
E'the waste problem is increasingly worrying throughout the Campania region but when incivility is combined with a lack of cleaning services then the situation becomes dramatic.
In Grumo Nevano the market area of Via Meucci remains in pitiful conditions every time the weekly market ends, as reported by a citizen, Mr. Giovanni L., to the Regional Councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli: "In this area the market is set up every Wednesday from 8 to 14 and every time the whole area becomes a large garbage dump and the garbage attracts seagulls that leave their excrement everywhere, the hygienic conditions become truly disastrous. We have been told that the problem could be traced back to the fact that the company in charge of cleaning the market area has reached the end of its mandate. So if they do not renew the mandate or if they do not find a new company, we residents must live in a landfill?
Fortunately this morning (July 2) the road was cleaned but no disinfestation was carried out and in any case cleaning must be carried out regularly.”
"Shameful and unacceptable situation. We have asked the Local Police to carry out strict controls during the market activities to verify that everything proceeds in order and that no one dumps and abandons waste illegally, anyone caught doing so will have to suffer heavy sanctions. We have also sent a request to the technical office of the Municipality that the cleaning and disinfestation operations of the area are carried out regularly, that they sort out the matter with the company in charge of the operations, we are in a phase in which we must be very careful about the hygienic-sanitary conditions of public places, we do not joke about this". - were the words of Councilor Borrelli.
