The Neapolitan clans of the Secondigliano Camorra wanted to conquer the drug dealing areas of the Pontine coast in the south of Lazio, those around the province of Latina and that look out to sea.
For this reason, the investigators of the Rome District Anti-Mafia Directorate have triggered the arrest of 22 people carried out by the Carabinieri. Among those arrested, there is also a woman. The charges focus on criminal association aimed at drug trafficking, possession of weapons and explosive materials, threats, private violence and injuries, with the aggravating circumstance of having acted with mafia methods. The investigations were coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Ilaria Calò.
The investigations were carried out between October 2015 and August 2016 and were updated again from March to September 2018, also with the collaboration of the Central Directorate for Anti-Drug Services of the Ministry of the Interior. The criminal group acted under the leadership of two brothers from Secondigliano, Naples, who had decided, also through attacks, to conquer the drug market in the southern Pontine area, recruiting local criminal workers and thus creating a dense network of pushers.
