Dinner with “Il Grillo Narrante”. Massimiliano Gaudino presents his book in Poggioreale “Da Alfredo”, Monday 6 July at 21:00 pm.
It will be presented on Monday 6 July at 21:00 pm, in the historic trattoria in Poggioreale “Da Alfredo”, “Il Grillo Narrante” first work by Massimiliano Gaudino, a Neapolitan psychologist and psychotherapist, who attempted this literary debut following the many requests from his patients to collect all his stories. Present at the evening to read some pages of the book were the violinist Tsvetanka Asatryan, the actor Emanuele Guarino and the actress Cristina Messere.
The book, published by Gruppo Albatros – Il Filo, is a collection of stories, fables and poems that lead the reader on a long and heartfelt journey into the “one’s self”.
Always fascinated by words, Gaudino uses narration as a tool capable of exciting to rediscover himself with the care that only words can have.
A text for children, also accompanied by delicate illustrations by various Neapolitan artists and others, but also aimed at a more mature audience. In fact, inside the stories told there are adults, those that Gaudino meets every day in his psychotherapist's office.
Through clever narrative and formal devices, the author offers his readers a tool to recognize themselves in, to share the weight of their suffering and then find themselves again. Behind the fairy-tale background, in fact, there are stories of everyday life of those who, due to lack of time or resources, have stopped observing and observing themselves.
With a tight narrative pace, one shares and reflects on one's life, one's relationships, one's growth. The themes covered are the most varied and range from bullying to violence (as in: Narcissus the Frog; The Widow in Black; Free to Fly; It's All a Carousel; An Eye for an Eye), from the importance of introspection (The One of Me) to that of knowing one's own body (Fireflies).
A very dense literary debut, capable of moving with ease from fairy tale to poetry.
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
“I have always perceived pain as a constant in our lives, that accompanies us from birth to death. Throughout our existence we try to give it a meaning, to lighten its weight. But the truth is that everything becomes more bearable if there is someone who takes care of us and, often, that someone can be ourselves.
This book is intended as a tribute to all those people who never stop believing in themselves, even when they are put to the test by fate.
It is an invitation to caress ourselves, to take care of ourselves and to find the courage to be as we are."
