In the welcoming atmosphere of La Casa del Mandolino Napoletano, after the approval of an enthusiastic and participating audience, the DivaPlectrumQuartet returns to the stage in “Mandoliniamo”, three evenings of music not to be missed.
The DivaPlectrumQuartet will perform, on the next Fridays 03/10/17 July, a concert dedicated to the ancient plectrum orchestras interpreting pieces of classical instrumental Neapolitan song.
The Quartet aims to enhance the chamber literature for plectrum ensembles of both classical tradition and Neapolitan music; furthermore, it experiments with the performance of pieces belonging to the classical and operatic repertoire using specific transcriptions. The DivaPlectrumQuartet aims to fully include the mandolin, a precious and historic Neapolitan instrument, in the ranks of classical instruments: in fact, the mandolin is frequently associated with a folkloristic and popular image of the city of Naples, depriving it of its intrinsic and ancient musical value. The formation, composed of First Mandolin: Adolfo Tronco, Second Mandolin: Massimiliano del Gaudio, Mandola: Roberto Padula, Guitar: Giovanni Leonetti, will pay homage to Raffaele Calace, a great concert artist of the singing lute applauded throughout the world who studied and perfected the mandolin making it the advanced instrument it is today, and will propose a repertoire of milestones of Neapolitan classical music.
