The State Police of the Caserta Police Headquarters, with the support of the Carabinieri of the Caserta Company, arrested Karim Abdul, a 38-year-old Ghanaian, in flagrante delicto for the crime of unauthorized cultivation of a narcotic substance, possession of the same for the purpose of dealing, as well as aggravated theft of electricity.
The info-investigative activity carried out in the territory by the Caserta Flying Squad allowed them to acquire information about the fact that in Mondragone, in the Pescopagano area, there was an illegal marijuana cultivation set up in a house, closed with a gate and relative padlock. Having set up various observation services on site, the police officers identified the 38-year-old, who, seen leaving the apartment next door, was going inside the house under surveillance. The aforementioned, at the sight of the police officers, tried to move away from the place but was stopped and identified.
Subsequently, a house search was carried out at both properties; inside the house under investigation, 111 green plants were found, approximately 35 cm tall, purposely irradiated by numerous halogen lamps, powered by an illegal connection to the public lighting. Furthermore, some branches of the same plant substance were found, already dried and ready to be marketed. Subsequent technical checks made it possible to ascertain that all the substance found was of the marijuana type; in particular, for the 111 plants, a total gross weight of over 1,8 kg was estimated, while for the dried substance it was approximately 210 grams.
Inside the house where the 38-year-old lived, the theft of electricity was also ascertained as he was stealing electricity from the public network by tampering with the meter present there. For these facts, after the usual checks, Karim Abdul was declared under arrest and, as ordered by the competent Public Prosecutor on duty, associated with the prison of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, awaiting the validation judgment.
