Eight arrests were carried out this morning by the Highway Police (Judicial Police team) against as many people resident in the provinces of Taranto, Lecce, Bari and Naples.
The recipients of the precautionary order are being investigated for criminal association aimed at laundering and receiving stolen goods of numerous high-end commercial cars, which occurred through the method of "false nationalization". In essence, apparently regular data of cars circulating in other EU countries were placed on the cars that were the object of the illegal traffic, and then they were re-registered in Italy using counterfeit foreign circulation documents.
The operation involved agents from the Highway Patrol of Taranto, Lecce and the Puglia and Campania departments. In addition, with the collaboration of the Naples and Palermo departments and the Lecce Highway Patrol section, seizures of nationalization files of high-end commercial cars are also underway at the Civil Motorization offices of Naples, Palermo and Lecce.
