During the first half of the current year, even during the Covid 19 health emergency, the requirements for the granting of the benefit were verified; it was found that out of a sample examined of over 2000 citizens receiving the subsidy, 86 were not entitled to it. A result that the military personnel of the Arma arrived at by cross-referencing documentary data and information acquired during specific territorial control services with those provided by the Municipalities of residence.
The income was received by recipients of personal precautionary measures; those convicted with a final sentence for crimes for which the benefit is forfeited; prisoners and hospitalized in state-funded facilities; foreign citizens without the requirements.
There were numerous false declarations that involved discrepancies in the indication of the real residence, that is, people who indicated it at a different Municipality to omit within the specific declaration that the family members received other income. As in the case of a young man who had fictitiously changed the address of residence to a different home, which later turned out to be a commercial establishment used as a fishmonger.
In one case it emerged that the recipient of the citizen's income was a person convicted of mafia-style criminal association, affiliated with a clan from the Sele plain, on probation. Irregularities were also found against 19 foreign citizens who benefited from the income, although they had not been resident in the national territory for at least 10 years, the last 2 of which should have been continuous. The estimated damage to the treasury is over 350 thousand euros
