“You are not alone”, the summer assistance service starts to those over 65 and people with frailties. Zinno: “Alongside the weakest, no one excluded”
San Giorgio. It is called “YOU ARE NOT ALONE” and is the project of light assistance to the elderly, the disabled and the frail or immunocompromised people implemented by the administration, led by Mayor Giorgio Zinno, to help citizens in difficulty throughout the summer period. The service will be carried out by volunteers of the Civil Protection Group of San Giorgio a Cremano, from Monday 6 July until 6 September, every day, including Sunday.
The assistance includes the purchase and home delivery of groceries and basic necessities, prescription collection and delivery, running various errands, information and useful advice for dealing with the summer heat and, if necessary, listening to combat loneliness. It is mainly aimed at residents in the San Giorgio a Cremano area, over 65s, disabled people, people with heart problems and immunosuppressed people.
An assistance network that the First Citizen wanted to establish, almost as a continuation of the great work carried out by the Civil Protection during the Covid emergency period, giving material and human support to many families and citizens in difficulty.
“The summer period can usually be difficult for the elderly and the most fragile people – in fact declares the Mayor Zinno - and also thanks to the commitment of our volunteers we can create an assistance system so that no one has to find themselves in a state of loneliness. The goal is to offer services to citizens, starting from their needs, always remembering that fragile people have greater needs and count on the support of the administration”.
The deputy mayor agrees Michele Carbone"We invest a lot in Social Policies because we are convinced that a good administration has the duty to support and assist the weakest people. Only in this way can we say that we are a large and united community, just as we demonstrated during the emergency period”.
The “YOU ARE NOT ALONE” service will be active every day of the week at the following times:
– Monday to Saturday, from 8.00 to 20.00
– Sunday, from 8.00 to 14.00
