Fraud against the elderly: 20-year-old from San Giorgio a Cremano arrested. At the conclusion of an investigation coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Naples North, staff from the Frattamaggiore Police Station executed an order for the application of the precautionary measure of house arrest, issued by the GIP of the Court of Naples North, against a 20-year-old person, resident in San Giorgio a Cremano Naples, for the crime of aggravated fraud against elderly people.
The investigations began following a check carried out - last March 16 - in the municipality of Arzano by a patrol of the Frattamaggiore Police Station against the suspect who, in the midst of the Covid-19 epidemiological emergency, was caught walking on the street with, well hidden in his jacket, a debit card, valuable objects (chain, necklace, bracelets, rings, trays and spoons) as well as the sum, in cash, of 250 euros, without providing a plausible justification.
The inspection ended with the seizure of the assets and the reporting of the suspect at large.
Subsequent investigative activities have allowed us to outline a serious circumstantial framework against the person who was the recipient of the measure who, according to the accusatory hypothesis supported by the GIP, shortly before being subjected to the police check, had shown up at the home of an elderly woman in Arzano with the pretext of delivering a package for her nephew with a value of approximately 4 thousand euros.
The victim, not having access to the entire sum, and trusting in the good faith of his interlocutor, gave the man the sum of 250 euros in cash, the ATM card with the PIN number, various gold jewelry and other silver material.
All the material, money and ATM card were returned to the victim.
In relation to this phenomenon, this Prosecutor's Office, in consideration of the growing number of reports for these types of crimes, has established a special group of magistrates committed to monitoring the phenomenon and identifying its perpetrators.
