“I was very moved to receive the communication that my book “Capri in Etichetta” is among the winning works of the prestigious Premio Capri San Michele, in the Tourism Section. declares the writer Luciano Garofano who then adds “An unexpected recognition, which represents for me, in addition to an honor as an islander, a stimulus to continue on the path of deepening the History of Capri, of its dissemination and sharing, especially among young people. “Capri in Etichetta” wants to be a tribute to the many Caprese who, thanks to their industriousness and entrepreneurship, from the beginning of the nineteenth century to today, from the establishment of the first family-run inns to the large luxury hotels, have contributed to making Capri a cutting-edge tourist resort and universally recognized as a destination for the Soul. Without forgetting the hotel doormen, the maîtres, the cooks and waiters, the housekeepers and porters, the coachmen and boatmen, the guides and conductors, who, with their work in charge of the reception and the stay of foreigners, discreet and polite, marked the birth of the Myth of typical Capri hospitality. I thank the Jury, presided by Lorenzo Ornaghi, Raffaele Vacca, without forgetting the Scientific Editorial and my readers. A special thanks to the President of Federalberghi Isola di Capri, Sergio Gargiulo, the first to have believed in the project of “Capri in Etichetta”, to my friend Ferdinand D'Esposito who offered me useful suggestions for the final draft and to my cat Perla, last but not least, a bit intellectual and a bit naive, irreplaceable editorial secretary”.
