Sorrento Peninsula: During the Carabinieri checks for compliance with anti-covid regulations, a 44-year-old from Vico Equense with a gun and cocaine ends up in handcuffs.
The Carabinieri of the Sorrento company yesterday evening conducted a coordinated service in the municipalities of the Sorrento peninsula to monitor compliance with the rules issued to contain Covid-19 infections.
Concentrating the checks in the areas affected by the Saturday night movida, checking the center of Vico Equense, the soldiers noticed a strange coming and going of young people from a recreational club. Having entered to inspect the place, given the suspicious behavior of a young customer, a search was started. Having found the first dose of cocaine on the person checked, the carabinieri extended the search to the homes of the others in the group. Thus, at the home of a 44-year-old from Vico, with no criminal record, the carabinieri found 35 grams of cocaine and a 7.65 caliber semi-automatic pistol, brand Astra. Ballistic tests on the pistol will continue to verify its provenance and establish any connection to blood crimes.
During the checks, two people were reported to the prefect for personal use of cocaine and a boy was fined for not wearing the required surgical mask
85 people identified, 14 of whom had a police record. 39 vehicles were checked, two of which were seized for lack of insurance coverage and two were stopped for driving without ever having obtained a license. One person reported for drunk driving. Finally, 8 traffic violations were issued for a total amount of approximately 3 thousand euros.
