The mayor of Scafati, Cristoforo Salvati, has ordered the closure of all municipal offices and all municipal sports facilities in the area for tomorrow.
The decision was necessary to allow sanitization activities following the positivity to Covid-19 of a member of the Scafatese council. The Police command will guarantee all external patrol activities. The councilor in question has been hospitalized for a few days at the Mauro Scarlato, covid center for the province of Salerno. Many people who have had contact with the politician including his family members are in self-isolation and are waiting for a swab. There was also a city council meeting this week and the positive politician participated in some party meetings a few days before finding out he was infected.
Meanwhile, in the evening, the mayor released his usual message on the institutional Facebook page: "Today we have only 1 positive case and we are also waiting for the results of some control swabs for our fellow citizens who are recovering. This must absolutely not make us give up because, only by continuing with the appropriate precautions, we will be able to lower the contagion curve in our city. I expect collaboration and a sense of responsibility from you this week too and I guarantee that the institutions together with the municipal police, financial police and carabinieri (whom I thank from the bottom of my heart) will do their part". Cristoforo Salvati explained.
And then he added: "I promise you that, this time too, we will come out of it in the best possible way, together. I am carefully monitoring the evolution of the situation in Scafati and I want to reassure all parents and students that, should the situation require it, I will not hesitate to take further restrictive measures. However, we must try to contain the virus without damaging trade, production activities, culture and the education of our children, our social fabric already severely tested by the pandemic".
