The death of a 70-year-old patient affected by Covid, which occurred today in the emergency room of the Cotugno hospital, is at the center of a note released in the evening by the Azienda Ospedaliera dei Colli di Napoli that aims to clarify the news spread during the day based on the complaints of family members who complained of delays in assistance. "In relation to the death of a patient that occurred today in the emergency room of the Cotugno hospital in Naples - the note reads - the Azienda Ospedaliera dei Colli communicates that the patient, aged 70, diabetic and hypertensive and with other coexisting pathologies, arrived by 118 ambulance at the hospital in very serious conditions and was assisted, without any waiting, by the health personnel.
At the time of admission to the Emergency Room, he had a very low saturation and was subjected to blood gas analysis and other tests that confirmed the serious condition of respiratory failure. He was immediately administered high-flow oxygen and steroid therapy and the resuscitators were alerted, but the respiratory failure condition worsened and it was necessary to resort to resuscitation maneuvers for about an hour without, however, managing to re-establish cardiorespiratory function”.
