De Luca against Agnelli: "Not even a thank you for saving CR7 from the coronavirus"
IWhile waiting for the Serie A Sports Judge to rule on the result of Juventus-Napoli, the 'ghost' match continues to be discussed. Called into question in recent days by 'malicious' people for his friendship with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, the president of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca intervened on the matter. He did it in his own way, through one of the proverbial Facebook live broadcasts and with those sheriff tones that have made him a recognized and imitated figure. "Napoli did not leave because they were in quarantine. The president of Juventus made a painful, embarrassing statement", attacked De Luca. Still referring to the black and white club, the president of Campania then quoted a phrase by the philosopher Schopenhauer "glory must be conquered, honor is enough not to lose it".
"I understand that the world of football involves many big economic interests, but are we talking about sports or something else? How can you reduce yourself to pettiness thinking of winning a match with the antagonists quarantined by the ASL?", said De Luca. Not only that, but the Campania president doubled down when he said: "The ASL of Naples didn't even receive thanks because we avoided infecting Cristiano Ronaldo".
“Can you imagine what would have happened? We would have made the headlines in the New York Times,” he added. De Luca then intervened in the debate on the primacy of the decisions of the ASL over the FIGC protocol validated by the CTS and the Ministry of Health. “The ASL do exactly what the law and the Ministry of Health require. From a health point of view,” he reiterated, “footballers are like all citizens, but the FIGC makes a protocol in derogation of the provisions of the ministry and the Region and a storm breaks out. Juventus decides based on a protocol that is a private act that is nothing from a health point of view.” De Luca did not spare a slap in the face for the national coach Roberto Mancini, who in his opinion “let himself go with an outburst that he could have avoided. With sympathy I say that everyone must do their job.”
