La degree becomes a qualification for psychologists, pharmacists and dentists
This is foreseen in the three-stage project that the Minister of Universities, Gaetano Manfredi, has condensed into a bill that is about to be launched and is expected on the table of the pre-council on Monday 12 October.

This is the three-part project that the Minister of Universities, Gaetano Manfredi, has condensed into a bill that is now close to being launched. The measure – which last Monday's Nadef places at the top of the 22 connected to the budget law – is expected on the table of the pre-council on Monday, in view of a subsequent examination at Palazzo Chigi. The first to see the degree and the qualification coincide will be dentists, pharmacists, veterinarians and psychologists. Then it will be the turn of surveyors, agricultural technicians, agricultural experts and industrial experts who are graduates enrolled in one of the three new professionalizing degrees introduced this year. Finally – but only on the initiative of the national councils or federations – it could be the turn of architects, biologists, engineers, accountants and so on.
Manfredi's goal is clear. And it is made explicit in the report that accompanies the 5-article bill developed by the former president of the Crui: on the one hand, to allow "a more direct, immediate and effective placement of young people in the job market"; on the other, "to give a concrete response to the health, cultural, economic, productive and social needs of the country". In line with what is provided for in article 102 of the "Cura Italia" decree which made the degree in Medicine immediately qualifying. And it is no coincidence that the first four qualifications involved - cited in article 1 of the bill - are precisely the single-cycle master's degrees in Dentistry, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine and the master's degree in Psychology. On the condition that at least 30 training credits are acquired with an internship within the course of study.
In a second phase, the same simplification will be applied to the three new professional degrees in the technical subjects mentioned in Article 2 of the Bill, which were established in August and will produce their first graduates only in 3 years. Assuming that in the meantime the Bill is approved by the Council of Ministers, becomes law in Parliament and the regulations and ministerial decrees requested by the law arrive. For them, as for the previous group of professions, the degree exam must be rethought, inserting a practical test part and integrating the commissions with professionals, and the study courses must be adapted. This is provided for in Article 3 of the text requested by Manfredi.
