Sewage discharged into the river: the owner of a Pontecagnano company reported
As part of environmental protection checks, the Guardia di Finanza of Salerno has reported the owner of an agricultural company, responsible for the illegal disposal of processing waste and other polluting substances. The Guardia di Finanza of the 1st Company intervened on their own initiative when, in recent days, they identified suspicious discharges, coming from underground pipes, installed right near the company based in Pontecagnano (SA), which produces, among other things, buffalo milk and mozzarella. Based on the findings, the farm manager had set up a network of drains and wells, which poured the wastewater into two separate channels, to then flow into nearby waterways. All this without worrying, of course, about the serious environmental damage thus caused. The same methods were also used to drain the wastewater from chemical products, highly harmful to health, used to clean the premises and equipment of the milking parlor. In order to stop the dangerous spill of the contaminating liquids, which would have continued their course to the sea, the military proceeded to seize the pipelines, imposing their simultaneous closure. Reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Salerno, the entrepreneur, who will have to ensure the immediate restoration of the conditions for the correct disposal of the sewage, risks the criminal sanctions of arrest of up to one year and a fine of up to 26 thousand euros. Just two months ago, in the Piana del Sele, the Finance Police of the Eboli Company had concluded a similar intervention, seizing 8 livestock companies, not in compliance with environmental regulations and, in some cases, also responsible for the mistreatment of animals.
