Massive brawl in Benevento, calls father who arrives with katana: 5 injured and 2 arrests.
The most famous, the one forged by Hattori Hanzo, has become a cinematic cult thanks to Quentin Tarantino and his Kill Bill. And it was something similar to the 'bride's sword', the katana - a characteristic Japanese sword used by samurai - brandished yesterday evening by a 60-year-old from Benevento to resolve a massive brawl involving his son in the central Piazza Risorgimento. In the end, the toll was five people injured and two arrested. According to an initial reconstruction, it all began with the attack on a 37-year-old from Benevento by some peers. To defend himself, he called his father who arrived armed with an 80-centimeter-long katana. In the meantime, officers from the provincial police headquarters and the Carabinieri from the provincial command arrived on the scene to restore calm.
The police officers immediately identified and stopped the man who was brandishing the “katana” towards those present after having hit some of them. At the sight of the officers he tried to get rid of the sword and run away but was stopped and identified: he is a sixty-year-old from Benevento, already known for his criminal history. The Carabinieri instead intervened at the Mazzini school, where according to the indications of passers-by his son had taken refuge. The soldiers, once they arrived, stopped and identified him. There were five injured in total.
Four are victims of the violence of father and son: all rescued and transported to the two hospitals of Benevento, they suffered cuts caused by the sword but three are in good condition and have already been discharged while the fourth is under observation at the San Pio hospital. The fifth injured is the same 37 year old who repeatedly hit passers-by and suffered minor injuries himself. Father and son were then arrested on charges of aggravated injuries and illegal possession of weapons.
