Naples. A surge in infections in the Villa district of San Giovanni a Teduccio and the parish priest, Don Modesto Bravaccino, of the church of San Giuseppe and Madonna di Lourdes, closes it along with the playground.
He announced it during a Facebook live while the sanitization operations were underway in the church premises: "The church is not a hotbed and to reassure you we are proceeding with sanitization. The kids are a bit undisciplined, our vocation is to give the kids a place to keep them safe from the bad company that is on the street. I closed the playground also because we are fixing it. We sanitize everything to avoid infections. We are not doing a witch hunt. Be prudent and responsible and stay close to those who are experiencing a difficult time. We must call them, help them, comfort them. Let's not let them lack human assistance".
According to Il Mattino, the Villa district outbreak developed last Sunday in church during the celebration of confirmations. Many mothers who participated in the liturgy during which the children of the district received the sacrament, have already been infected and, despite being in quarantine, left home to participate in the sacred rite. Father Modesto Bravaccino also posted a notice at the entrance to the church: "Starting today - it reads - the bar, the soccer field and the playground remain closed. Given that the contagion curve is rising, everyone is invited to avoid gatherings with a sense of responsibility towards themselves and others".
